Privacy Policy
BIGDIG ("we", "us") is a browser game at abigdig.com where players collectively dig away the Earth. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account details — your email address, chosen username, and a salted hash of your password (we never store the password itself).
- Google Sign-In — if you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier and verified email address. We do not receive your Google password and we do not access any other Google data.
- Gameplay data — digging activity, in-game inventory, currency, statistics (such as deepest dig and total earth removed), flags, friends, and leaderboard entries.
- Technical data — IP address and basic request metadata, used for rate limiting, abuse prevention, and security. Our bot-protection check (Cloudflare Turnstile) may process similar technical signals.
Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and short-lived tokens used for gameplay sessions and bot protection. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use your information
- To operate the game: authenticate you, save your progress, and show shared world state.
- To display public gameplay information: your username, name color, and stats may appear on leaderboards and as in-game presence to other players. Your email is never shown.
- To keep the game fair and secure: rate limiting, bot protection, and abuse prevention.
- To respond to support requests.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your personal information with advertisers.
- We do not send marketing emails.
Service providers
The game runs on Cloudflare (hosting, storage, and bot protection). If you use Google Sign-In, authentication is handled by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. These providers process data only as needed to run the service.
Data retention & deletion
Account data is kept while your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us at the address below; we will remove your personal information within 30 days. Anonymous world state (the holes everyone digs) is permanent by design and contains no personal information.
Children
BIGDIG is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we will update this page and the date above.
